Dr. Rachel Gelman

Born and raised in McAllen, Texas, Dr. Rachel Gelman is a dedicated ophthalmologist who also happens to be the only surgeon performing cornea transplants in the Rio Grande Valley! After graduation from the University of Texas-Pan American, Dr. Gelman earned a Doctor of Medicine in Houston at the Baylor College of Medicine. After graduating, she continued her education so she could provide her patients with high-quality customized care as a refractive surgeon, cornea surgeon, and corneal transplantation expert.

Ophthalmology residency at the University of Arizona, served as chief resident in her senior year
Fellowship at Gavin Herbert Eye Institute at the University of California, Irvine for cornea, anterior segment, and refractive surgery
Wrote several ophthalmology publications
Board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology
Member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the Cornea Society, and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery
