If you’re looking for an effective way to reduce or eliminate your need for glasses and contact lenses, refractive lens exchange surgery might be the solution you’ve been looking for. Still, to decide whether or not the treatment is right for you, it’s important to consider the sorts of results the procedure has achieved for others. That’s when finding refractive lens exchange reviews can be the most helpful.
Below, you can check out a conversation that we had with refractive lens exchange patient Aurora Garza. Check out what Aurora had to say about her awesome results.
Starting Our Talk With Aurora Garza
We spoke to patient Aurora Garza about her refractive lens exchange surgery, conducted in July of 2021. She told us a little bit about why she made the choice to get treatment.
“For me, it was the right thing to do, my age taken into consideration. It did both corrective and preventative. I just turned 50, and that was one of the decisions that I wanted to do for myself,” Aurora explained. “It came at a very trying time in my life, and because of the pandemic, having to wear glasses every day, they fog up, and it was just a nightmare. So I came and consulted with Dr. Gelman.”
Deciding on the Right Treatment
Before determining that refractive surgery was right for her, Aurora and Dr. Gelman carefully discussed Aurora’s needs and goals.
“We talked and reviewed, and she gave me suggestions, and we followed through, did the surgery, and one of the best decisions of my life,” Aurora said of her experience.
“It’s best to come in and consult,” Aurora continued with advice for other patients. “They’ll review what needs to be done, how the surgery is going to take place, medications and treatment, and everything that goes before the surgery, after the surgery, and care. And then the follow-up appointments to make sure everything’s going well.”
Seeing the Difference
Refractive lens surgery works to replace your natural lens with a specialized intraocular lens, correcting what’s known as refractive errors. Refractive errors are issues with how your eyes process light, with the most common types including nearsightedness and farsightedness. Thanks to her surgery, Aurora was able to see a significant improvement in her vision.
“Life is clear. Driving, reading, it’s made a world of a difference. I can see clearly now… I mean, I can get up in the morning, go wash my face, and I’m ready to go. I don’t have to worry about wearing my glasses or maybe looking into contacts. I can see clearly now.”
Does Aurora Recommend the Surgery?
Aurora’s appreciation for her surgery is clear in how she describes the results she’s experienced, but does she recommend the surgery for other patients, as well? We discussed the importance of making the choice to undergo lens replacement surgery.
“Surgery is a big issue with everyone. It’s a process. I would definitely do it again,” Aurora told us. “You have to come in and consult, review what’s best for you. Discuss what your procedure will look like, what the outcome will be afterwards, and just jump in. You have to take a chance. This is something that’s beneficial for your livelihood, your well-being.”
Why Choose Gelman Vision for Your Vision Correction Procedure
In addition to giving her insights on her procedure and improved vision, Aurora also talked about her experience with the team here at Gelman Vision and how she was treated as a patient.
“My experience was wonderful… They’ve treated me like royalty here. I love coming here. Dr. Gelman and her team have been taking care of me,” Aurora said. “Thank you, Dr. Gelman, for your patience and your assistance in helping me be glasses-free.”
A Bit More Information on the Refractive Lens Exchange Procedure
Refractive lens exchange or corneal refractive surgery is a type of vision correction procedure that can be used to both improve vision and treat cataracts. This treatment is often discussed as an alternative to laser vision correction treatments like LASIK. Unlike LASIK, refractive lens exchange can be used for patients with presbyopia, as well as patients over the age of 40. Refractive cataract surgery can be a great option for those who wish to treat cataracts and prevent future cataracts from developing.
There are many options for artificial lenses for patients undergoing this treatment, including multifocal lenses for patients with difficulty seeing multiple distances. The risks of this treatment are mostly minor, though some very rare cases may experience severe retinal complications such as retinal detachment. There may be a greater risk for myopic patients, meaning patients with nearsightedness.
